MAUREEN—STRESS RELIEF REFLEXOLOGY®
Harmony through Reflexology
Services
Reflexology:
A reflexology session can be 30 to 90 minutes in length, depending upon your needs. For a Foot session, you will only need to remove your shoes and socks. For a Hand session you will be more comfortable if you remove rings, bracelets & watches. For Ear and Face, removing earrings and necklaces is best. Work is done on a massage table lying on your back. If you are not comfortable being on your back for the length of a session, please say so when you book your session, we will adjust accordingly. For your comfort, please wear comfortable clothing.
Sessions can be focused on one area (feet, hands, ears or face) or more than one area can be combined.
Reflexology Lymph Drainage:
Reflexology Lymph Drainage (RLD) is a form of complementary therapy that focuses on reflexes on the feet that stimulate the Lymphatic System within the body. RLD treatment improves the flow of the lymph fluid through the Lymphatic System reducing swelling in the affected area. The feet have thousands of nerve endings that correspond to other parts of our body. Stimulation of these nerves supplying the feet using thumb and finger pressure can help improve blood and lymph circulation and restore energy flow.
During a session, the client relaxes on a massage table or recliner, only the shoes and socks are removed. The therapist methodically works the reflexes related to the lymphatic system. Each session lasts between 40 - 60 minutes. Four to six weekly sessions are recommended. All of the following benefits of RLD are vital for those suffering with lymphedema and can help them to feel great again.
RLD can help in the following ways:
· Reduce swelling
· Lessen pain and discomfort
· Feeling of improved body image
· Increase in strength and mobility of the arm
· Renew sense of well-being
· Acts as a preventive measure
Reflexology Lymph Drainage is recommended as a short-term preoperative therapy and an on-going preventive postoperative therapy. Motivating the flow of lymph fluid is exceedingly important after a surgical procedure because it aids in the prevention of swollen extremities due to the rapid and excessive build up of lymphatic fluid in the affected limb(s).
Swedish Massage:
The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones. Swedish massage techniques include: long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, effleurage, and shaking motions. These strokes are performed in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well-being.
